The Chart of the Week looks at NVIDIA’s remarkable growth leading up to and following the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022.
NVIDIA has emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the artificial intelligence boom. The company designs graphics processing units (GPUs) and other advanced computing technologies that power everything from gaming to sophisticated AI systems.
As businesses race to develop and adopt AI, demand for NVIDIA’s high-performance chips has surged. These chips provide the computing power needed to train and run large AI models, positioning NVIDIA as a critical supplier behind the rapid expansion of AI.
As the chart shows, NVIDIA’s quarterly revenue has grown dramatically from $5.9 billion in the final quarter before ChatGPT’s launch, with revenue expected to reach approximately $108.8 billion in the third quarter of fiscal 2027. That represents more than an 18-fold increase in quarterly revenue in roughly four years.
