The chart of the week looks at first-quarter returns of 10% or more for the S&P 500 since 1950. Since then, all 12 times that the S&P 500 returned at 10% or more, the final three quarters were positive. It has not been a small gain, with over 21% over the final three quarters. Buyer beware, but many statistics point to solid years when the year starts strong. Always keep in mind  what valuation the market is trading at, which has recently been over 20x earnings.
