Energy prices across the globe have been increasing recently as economies re-open. The reason for the increase is somewhat similar to other issues in the economy, surging demand and a lack of supply. But other factors are to consider, such as increased environmental concerns, a lack of investment, and surging storage and transportation costs. As supply comes back in line, one would expect prices to cool, but the transition away from traditional fossil fuels in the coming years will continue to create periods of rapid price volatility.
