Our Chart of the Week focuses on everyone’s favorite group of stocks: the Magnificent Seven. While these companies drove much of the market’s gains in 2023 and 2024, their leadership has faded in 2026 as performance has broadened across the market. In fact, only one of the seven has outperformed the S&P 500 during the first half of the year, highlighting the growing opportunities available beyond the market’s largest technology companies.

Areas such as energy, industrials, real estate, and international equities have contributed meaningfully to returns as investors expanded their focus beyond a handful of mega-cap growth stocks. We view this broadening of market leadership as a healthy development that creates a more balanced foundation for future returns. Market cycles often bring periods of rotation, and 2026 has served as a reminder that leadership can shift quickly across sectors, investment styles, and regions. Investors who maintain diversified portfolios are often better positioned to participate in those shifts rather than relying on a single area of the market to drive results.
